Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated November 2, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out activities that are not allowed on the BST WiFi network. It is part of our Terms of Service. All customers must read and agree to this policy. Violating it may result in suspension or immediate termination of the Service.
Unlawful and harmful activity
BST prohibits any activity that is illegal or fraudulent, that infringes the rights of any person or entity, or that interferes with others' use and enjoyment of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, using the Service to:
- transmit, receive, store, post, or otherwise distribute any defamatory, obscene, libelous, unlawful, or threatening material;
- distribute material that a reasonable person could deem unlawful, that could constitute a criminal offense, or that violates any local, state, or federal law;
- infringe the copyright or proprietary rights of any rights holder, or download or distribute copyrighted material without the owner's permission;
- send unsolicited bulk or commercial email ("spam");
- disrupt the servers, services, or network of BST or any other entity, including denial‑of‑service attacks;
- restrict, inhibit, or otherwise interfere with any person's ability to use or enjoy the Service (except for legitimate safety tools such as firewalls or parental‑control software);
- falsify, alter, or remove message or packet headers, or otherwise interfere with normal network operation;
- impersonate any person or entity, falsify sender information, forge signatures, or engage in phishing;
- violate the terms, acceptable use, rules, or policies of any other service, network, system, server, or application you access;
- access any computer, network, data, or software without the owner's consent; bypass or attempt to breach security measures; use credentials you are not authorized to use; access data not intended for you; or conduct unauthorized port scanning;
- obtain, distribute, or use tools commonly used to compromise the security of computers, networks, or software — including password crackers, decoders, packet sniffers, keystroke loggers, and Trojan Horse programs;
- service, alter, or modify BST equipment or the Service, or allow anyone not authorized by BST to do so;
- redistribute or resell the Service, or make it available to anyone outside the premises, by wired or wireless means;
- operate as an internet service provider using the Service, whether or not for profit.
Servers and hosting on residential accounts
Residential accounts are for internet use on computers and networked devices at the installed premises. A residential account may not be used to:
- run dedicated or stand‑alone equipment or servers that provide content or services to anyone outside the premises;
- run programs that provide content or services to anyone outside the premises;
- use encryption to mask the presence of servers or server software;
- be used for any business enterprise or purpose, whether or not for profit.
If you need to host services or use the connection commercially, please move to a business plan.
Network management and shared bandwidth
Bandwidth on the BST network is shared. Quoted speeds are maximum ("up to") rates and are not guaranteed. BST reserves the right to manage its networks for maximum efficiency and fair performance across all customers.
Wireless networks at your premises
Wi‑Fi networks at your premises should be configured with appropriate security. You may not lease, sublease, or provide internet access to others through the Service without BST's written consent.
Enforcement
BST may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate the Service for any violation of this AUP, in addition to any other remedies available under the Terms of Service.
